Job Description CLOSING DATE: July 11, 2024 The Sheriff's Office , Domestic Violence Unit Section is seeking a full-time Public Safety Reporting Aide I , working 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The selected candidate will attend a minimum of six weeks of full-time training prior to being assigned to this shift.Training is conducted from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.All training is paid. After the completion of training, the selected applicant will move to the 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Monday - Friday work schedule.
What You Will Be DoingPublic Safety Reporting Aides are responsible for conducting face-to-face interviews with domestic violence victims and victims of other crimes who have obtained emergency court orders for protection from violence and to assess their need for safety and security. However, interviews will only be conducted when filling in on weekdays.Public Safety Reporting Aides will use databases to obtain information on respondents in temporary protection orders, prepare peace orders and emergency evaluation petitions for these orders.
Additional responsibilities include reconciling information provided by interviewees with information available in criminal and civil databases, entering and updating critical information into these databases within specified time restraints, handling inquiries from the public, other law enforcement agencies and the District Court Commissioners, as well as performing and other related duties as assigned.
The work of the Public Safety Reporting Aide requires a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail as well as strong communication skills.
Important Information About The Position
The individual selected for this position will be considered an "Essential Employee".Essential employees must report to work during a period of general emergency or liberal leave.To include holidays and inclement weather.
The selected applicant will be required to successfully complete a background investigation and a physical examination that includes a drug/alcohol screen prior to appointment.
The selected applicant may be required to work an occasional holiday or weekend shift.

Montgomery County Ethics Law: Except as provided by law or regulation, the County's "Public Employees" (which does not include employees of the Sheriff's office) are subject to the County's ethics law including the requirements to obtain advanced approval of any outside employment and the prohibitions on certain outside employment. Minimum Qualifications Experience: Two (2) years of previous clerical experience.
Education: Graduation from high school or High School Certificate completion recognized in the State of Maryland.
Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
