NOLS Wilderness Medicine Första-Hjälpenkurser - Crossing Latitudes (1)Crossing Latitudes arrangerar NOLS Wilderness Medicine första-hjälpenkurser i Skandinavien, Europa och i USA. Fokus på NOLS sjukvårdskurser ligger på hur vi tar hand om en skadad person tills hjälp kommer.

WFA = Wilderness First Aid 20-30 timmar. Undervisas på svenska, finska eller engelska.

WAFA = Wilderness Advanced First Aid 40-46 timmar. Undervisas på svenska eller engelska.

WFR = Wilderness First Responder 80 timmar+. Undervisas bara på engelska.

WFR-R = Wilderness First Responder Recertification 24 timmar+. Undervisas bara på engelska.

WEMT = Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician 200 timmar. Undervisas bara på engelska. WEMT kurserna undervisas bara i USA.

NOLS Wilderness Medicine kurser är intensiva med 50% praktik och realistiska scenarier. Vårt kursmaterial täcker patient-undersökning, ryggradsskador, skallskador, sårskötsel, benbrott, allergier och mycket, mycket mer. Efter en kurs med oss får deltagare antingen ett svensk hjärt- och lungräddning kompetenskort eller NOLS CPR kort samt NOLS Wilderness Medicine internationella certifiering (2 år).

NOLS Wilderess Medicine är en internationell organisation som undervisar vildmarks sjukvård. NOLS har över 1000 kurser per år i mer än 40 olika länder. Efter kursen får man en internationell certifiering som kan betyda mycket för de som söker friluftsguidejobb. De flesta guide-företagen i friluftsländer såsom USA, Kanada, Nya Zealand, Brasilien eller Chile kräver att man har en Wilderness First Responder certifiering. Crossing Latitudes arrangerar flera 11-dagars WFR-kurser i Europa vart år.

Ingen tidigare erfarenhet krävs för att ta en NOLS Wilderness Medicine kurs. Det är våra instruktörers jobb att se till att du har kul medans du lär dig livsviktiga saker. Crossing Latitudes arrangerar ca 45 NOLS Wilderness Medicine första-hjälpenkurser varje år i Skandinavien och Europa. Vi har undervisat nästan 6000 personer i Europa. Runt om i världen har vi haft över 450,000 deltagare. Om kursen är på svenska så är givetvis kurs-materialet också på svenska. Om kursen är på finska så är givetvis kurs-materialet också på finska och likaså engelska så klart. Alla våra skandinaviska instruktörer har gått NOLS Wilderness Medicine instruktörsutbildning och vi undervisar runt om i hela världen.

Vi lovar att du kommer ha kul medans du lär dig oumbärliga kunskaper! Under kursen kommer du att vara både “patient” och “sjukvårdare”. Vi sätter upp realistiska scenarier med fejkat blod. 50% praktik och realistiska scenarier utomhus – i vilket väder vi än har under kursen. 50% är lektion, demonstration och diskussioner – oftast inomhus i ett klassrum. Under kursens gång så varvar vi lektioner och scenarier.

De flesta Wilderness First Aid (WFA) kurserna är 2,5 till 3 dagar och undervisas på svenska, finska eller engelska. Kursmatrialet är det samma vare sig kursen är 20 timmar eller 30 timmar. Skillnaden är att på de längre kurserna har vi mer tid för frågor, diskussioner om ledarskap och gruppdynamik, längre scenarier samt kanske en nattövning. Ingen tidigare erfarenhet krävs. Om du har en Wilderness First Responder certifiering från NOLS Wilderness Medicine så kan du ta en WFA kurs som återcertifiering.

En Wilderness Advanced First Aid (WAFA) kurs ligger på 40 timmar+. Denna kurstyp är lite ovanlig då de flesta NOLS Wilderness Medicine kurser i Europa är antingen Wilderness First Aid kurser (WFA) på 20-30 timmar eller Wilderness First Responder kurser (WFR) på 80 timmar. Hjärt- och lungräddning är och ett nattscenarie är inkluderade i en WAFA kurs. För att få en Wilderness Advanced First Aid certifiering krävs att du klarar både ett skriftligt och ett praktiskt prov. En deltagare som inte klarar proven får istället för en WAFA certifiering en Wilderness First Aid (WFA) certifiering.

En Wilderness First Responder (WFR) kurs är 80 timmar+ lång. En WFR är öppen för alla som är intresserade av en fördjupning i vildmarksmedicin. Alla NOLS Wilderness Medicine Wilderness First Responder kurser undervisas på engelska men i Europa är oftast en av instruktörerna svensk och kan hjälpa till med översättningar om så behövs. Man måste inte ha varit med på en WFA eller WAFA kurs innan man tar en WFR-kurs. På en WFR kurs så bor och äter vi ofta tillsammans. Vi har deltagare från hela världen så förvänta dig intressanta diskussioner. På en WFR kurs har vi också större scenarier och även en natt scenarie. Ofta bjuder vi in folk utifrån som hjälper oss att vara “patienter”. Vi strävar efter att det ska bli så realistiskt som möjligt för dig som deltagare. NOLS Wilderness First Responder kursmaterial är internationellt erkänt och ofta ett krav för guider och intstruktörer i andra länder. Kursboken skickas ut när man betalar in kursavgiften.

Återcertifiering av en Wilderness First Responder (WFR-Recertification) eller en Wilderness Advanced First Aid (WAFA) En WAFA och en WFR certifiering är giltlig i 2 år. Under dessa 2 år kan du kalla dig WAFA eller WFR. Om dina 2 år har gått ut dvs. du har passerat utgångsdatumet på ditt certifikat så kan du inte kalla dig WAFA/WFR längre. Du har dock ytterligare ett år på dig att återcertifiera. Om du inte återcertifierar inom detta “extra” år efter utgångsdatumet så förlorar du din WAFA/WFR status.

Bästa sättet att återcertifiera är att ta en WFR-Recertification kurs (24 timmar+). Om du har en WFR certifiering från NOLS Wilderness Medicine så kan du även återcertifiera genom att ta en kort Wilderness First Aid (WFA) kurs (2-3 dagars kurs på svenska, finska eller engelska). Vi rekommenderar dock en WFR-R eftersom alla deltagare har en WFR och kursen är scenarie baserad. Man måste alltid ta ett skriftligt och ett praktiskt prov när man återcertifierar sin WFR eller WAFA.

Om du har en WAFA eller WFR certifiering från ett annat företag än NOLS Wilderness Medicine och vill återcertifiera med oss (WMA, SOLO, Remote Medical, Aerie, Desert Medical, WEMSIE eller annat företag) måste du ta en WFR-R kurs. Om du klarar det skriftliga och praktiska provet får du efteråt en NOLS Wilderness Medicine WAFA/WFR certifiering.     Students holding a current WFR certification from any other organization than NOLS Wilderness Medicine are REQUIRED to submit a photocopy of their certification card on the first day of the course.

    If you hold a current WFR certification from any other wilderness medicine organization with less than a 70 hour certification, you will receive a letter of course completion in lieu of aNOLS Wilderness Medicine WFR certification. This letter of completion may allow you to recertify with your original certifying organization. You must contact that organization prior to yourNOLS Wilderness Medicine course to ensure that our course will meet their requirements for recertification.

    It is your responsibility to make sure your certification meets this standard.     Students holding a current WFR certification from any other organization than NOLS Wilderness Medicine are REQUIRED to submit a photocopy of their certification card on the first day of the course.

    If you hold a current WFR certification from any other wilderness medicine organization with less than a 70 hour certification, you will receive a letter of course completion in lieu of aNOLS Wilderness Medicine WFR certification. This letter of completion may allow you to recertify with your original certifying organization. You must contact that organization prior to yourNOLS Wilderness Medicine course to ensure that our course will meet their requirements for recertification.

Join the leader in wilderness medicine for a three-day scenario-based course to review and practice evacuation and decision making guidelines. Our dynamic, experienced instructors will refresh you on the current techniques, protocols and controversies in the wilderness medicine field.

    The 3-day WFR Recertification course includes Adult/Child/Infant CPR & AED. This course is ideal for current Wilderness First Responders and Wildereness EMTs. The WFR Recertification course is pre-approved for 18 hours of EMT CEU’s by CECBEMS.

    WHO CAN RECERTIFY? If you hold a current Wilderness First Responder certification of at least 70 hours, you can use this WFR-Refresher in order to recertify. If you have a Wilderness Advanced First Aid certification you can also refresh on the WFR-R course.
