William Richardson

The graveside service will be held April 18 for William Ray Richardson of Eugene, who died April 15 of age-related causes. He was84.

Richardson was born Oct. 7, 1918, in Royse City, Texas, to Annaniasand Era Annie Kinnaird Richardson. He moved to Eugene 70 years ago. In1939, Richardson graduated from University High School, where he wasclass and student body president, and active in basketball, football andtrack.

He married Eunice Nielsen in Eugene on May 26, 1940.

During World War II, Richardson served as a Seabee in NewCaledonia. He received a medical discharge.

Richardson worked as manager of several service stations. He alsowas a department store clerk and worked nine years at the University ofOregon power plant.

His interests included sports, cards, socializing with friends andfamily and spending time with his 19-year-old cat, Delilah. He was amember and past commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and belongedto the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans. He also belongedto Emmaus Lutheran Church and the Moose, Elks and Eagles.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Larry of Eugene and Wayne ofAuburn, Wash.; a daughter, Suzanne Elam of Eugene; a sister, JuanitaBishop of Eugene; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and twogreat-great-grandchildren.

Friday's service will be at 10 a.m. at West Lawn Memorial Parkin Eugene. West Lawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home is in charge ofarrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to Emmaus Lutheran Church or tothe Greenhill Humane Society.

Lorna Hammerton

JUNCTION CITY - A memorial service will be held April 26 for LornaL. Hammerton of Junction City, who died April 14 of age-related causes.She was 88.

Hammerton was born Sept. 22, 1914, in Denver to Walter and CarrieMenning Spilker. She married William Hammerton in Colorado Springs,Colo., in 1933. He died in 1999.

She grew up and attended schools in Rush, Colo., before settling inthis area in 1937. She was primarily a homemaker, and she enjoyedreading the Bible, crafts and her home. She especially enjoyed spendingtime with her family. She was baptized in 1939 and was a member ofJehovah's Witnesses.

Survivors include a son, Buddie of Eugene; two daughters, JaniceMilford and Beverly Heagy both of Junction City; a sister, DorisHammerton of Salem; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; andtwo great-great-grandchildren. A daughter, Joan, died in 1999.

The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. April 26 at the KingdomHall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Junction City. Chapel of MemoriesFuneral Home in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Watchtower Society incare of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Junction City.

Edith Angleton

JUNCTION CITY - The funeral will be held April 18 for Edith W.Angleton of Junction City, who died April 12 of age-related causes. Shewas 82.

Angleton was born Jan. 6, 1921, in Sheridan, Wyo., to William andNancy Falls Sieweke. She married Garland Angleton in Fullerton, Calif.,on Aug. 22, 1941. He died Aug. 20, 2002.

She graduated from Santa Ana High School in California and attendedSanta Ana Junior College for two years. She moved to this area fromFullerton 40 years ago and attended Eugene Business college for fouryears.

She and her husband owned and operated Garland Construction and sheworked as seamstress in the costume department at Disneyland. She alsoowned a ceramic studio and drove motor homes for Monaco Coach.

She enjoyed sewing and playing the piano. She also enjoyedceramics, and she won a blue ribbon in the 1990s for creating a ceramicvase with an original design. She was a member of the women's groupat the Foursquare Church in Fullerton, and she served as a volunteerwith the Eugene Faith Center's Sunday school.

Survivors include two sons, William of Burns and Garland Jr. ofJunction City; three daughters, Linda Starfire of Puyallup, Wash.,Sylvia Angleton of Louisville, Colo., and Diana Clifford of Pomona,Calif.; two sisters, Wyoma Griset of Tustin, Calif., and Icyle of Boise;12 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. An infant son, George,died previously.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday atEngland's Eugene Memorial Chapel. Friday's service will beheld at 1 p.m. at the chapel. Burial will follow the service at LaneMemorial Gardens in Eugene.

Kenneth Stickney

VENETA - The graveside service will be held April 18 for KennethEverett Stickney of Veneta, who died April 14 of heart disease. He was64.

Stickney was born Oct. 8, 1938, in Chippewa Falls, Wis., to Everettand Elizabeth Idle Stickney. He married Dorothy Carey in Reno, Nev., onMarch 26, 1965.

He joined the Marine Corps in 1955 and was later disabled in amilitary vehicle accident. He moved to this area in 1971 and worked as amechanic.

He enjoyed making wooden toys, and he was a member of the AmericanLegion Post in Eugene and the Grants Pass Elks Lodge.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Stacy Campbell of SweetHome; three stepdaughters, Joyce Schaaf of Eugene, Janice Blackburn ofDexter and Lorraine Tendick of Veneta; a stepson, Jeff Bull of Eugene; abrother, Rod of California; a sister, Joyce Lettrich of Roseville,Calif.; 25 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and twogreat-great-grandchildren.

Friday's service will be held at 1 p.m. at Eagle PointNational Cemetery. Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene is in charge ofarrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Greenhill Humane Societyin Eugene.

Robert Gilliland

The funeral will be held April 18 for Robert Louis Gilliland ofEugene, who died April 14 of age-related causes. He was 93.

Gilliland was born Nov. 13, 1909, in Omaha, Neb., to William andBertha Beebe Gilliland. He married Rachel Starkweather in Walker, Minn.,on June 13, 1930. She died in February of 1972. He married ErmaCappuccio in Springfield on Aug. 4, 1972.

He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps. He worked as amechanic for Springfield Motors for 26 years.

He enjoyed rock hounding, music and traveling. He was a member ofthe Sojourners, a camper travel club. He also belonged to the WillametteChristian Center in Eugene and the Senior Bible Club.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Margaret Brown andElaine Cover, both of Salem and Rhoda Abshere of Creswell; astepdaughter, Gloria Miller of Eugene; 10 grandchildren; 26great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Threegrandchildren, Wendy Brown, Candi Espinoza and Kimberly Cover, diedpreviously.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. today and from 10a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Buell Funeral Chapel in Springfield.Friday's service will be held at 2 p.m. at the funeral chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mission Fund at theWillamette Christian Center in Eugene.

Brandi Lee

A memorial service will be held April 19 for Brandi Ann Lee ofPortland, formerly of Springfield, who died April 10 at the age of 30.Her family chose not to list the cause of death.

Lee was born Nov. 5, 1972, in Pomona, Calif., to Charlie Lee andNancy Heath Evans.

She graduated from high school in Southern California in 1990 andattended a Braille school. She lived in Springfield, on-and-off, from1973 until this year.

She was an artist and a singer, and her interests includedtraveling, yoga and animal activism. She will be remembered as awonderful friend and a triumph of the human spirit.

Survivors include her domestic partner of six years, David Ryan;her father of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; her stepfather, Joseph Evans ofSpringfield; a brother, Jarrett Lee of Portland; two sisters, Daydra Leeof Springfield and Shelly Stewart of South Carolina; and a stepsister,Rebecca Evans of Salem.

Saturday's service will be held at 2 p.m. at the River RoadPark Annex in Eugene. Crown Memorial Center in Milwaukie is in charge ofarrangements.

Clarence Duman

Clarence A. Duman of Eugene died April 10 of heart failure. He was84.

Duman was born June 25, 1918, in Cottonwood, Idaho, to Al and MarieBogli Duman. He married Fay Pettit in Jordan Valley on Oct. 15, 1938.

He lived in this area and worked as a log truck driver for 50 yearsand retired in 1988. He enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Dennis of Clarksville,Tenn., Larry of Mound City, S.D., and Les of Eugene; a daughter, GleaTrulove of Cheney, Wash.; five brothers; five sisters; 12 grandchildren;and seven great-grandchildren.

No service is planned. Andreason's Cremation & BurialService in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.

Allen Casady

Allen Robert Casady of Sun City West, Ariz., formerly of Eugene,died April 8 of Parkinson's disease. He was 86.

Allen was born Nov. 4, 1916, in Dickinson, N.D.

He was raised on a dairy farm in Dickinson and graduated fromDickinson High School. He served in the Marine Corps during World War IIand was stationed in the Philippines before being honorably discharged.

He worked for Weyerhaeuser in Springfield until his retirement. Heowned The Good Time Tavern in Eugene until 1978, when he retired againand became a full-time traveler in his RV. He traveled throughout theU.S., Canada and Alaska.

He was an avid rock hound and gold miner, mining in Alaska and inthe northwestern and southwestern states. He was instrumental in theoriginal restoration of the Lost Dutchman's Ghost Town in Stanton,Ariz. He was a lifetime member of the Lost Dutchman's MiningAssociation and an original member and lifetime member of the GoldProspector's Association of America. He also belonged to theAmerican Legion in Eugene.

He was an active volunteer and always ready to help anyone in need.He was extremely patriotic and flew the American flag for everyoccasion. He enjoyed spending time with his family who will remember hisinfectious smile and wonderful sense of humor even through his longstruggle with Parkinson's disease and later Alzheimer'sdisease.

Survivors include his wife of 10 years, Ava; a son, Glen of SunCity, Ariz.; a daughter, Shirley Casady of Greeley, Colo.; a stepsonAllan Hampton of Corvallis; a stepdaughter, Bonnie Ross of ColoradoSprings, Colo.; a sister, Arlene Posey of Eugene; a brother Lester ofSun City; three grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; threegreat-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

No service is planned. Frey Funeral Home in Wickenberg, Ariz., isin charge of arrangements.

Elmer Anderson

Elmer L. "Al" Anderson of Las Vegas, formerly of Eugene,died April 11 of congestive heart failure. He was 88.

Anderson was born June 28, 1914, in New England, N.D., to Axell andAnna Nelson Anderson. He married Irene Sweet in Miles City, Mont., onNov. 9, 1941. She died in 1990. He married Ethyl Seydel. She died in2001.

He graduated from high school. He served in the Navy Seabees duringWorld War II. He owned a retail clothing store. He lived in Miles Cityuntil 1967, when he moved to Hardin, Mont. He lived in Eugene from 1982until 2001, when he settled in Las Vegas.

He enjoyed traveling, especially to the Oregon coast. He was amember of the Elks and the Independent Order of Oddfellows.

Survivors include three sons, Jon of San Diego, Robert of Lynnwood,Wash., and Dal of Las Vegas; and six grandchildren.

No service is planned. Affordable Cremation & Burial Service inLas Vegas is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Independent Order ofOddfellows in Eugene.

Leta Cupp

SPRINGFIELD - Leta M. Cupp of Springfield died April 12 ofa*ge-related causes. She was 87.

Cupp was born Nov. 21, 1915, in Brashear, Mo., to Medarie andMinnie Paull Moore.

She married Jay Cupp in Missouri. The couple lived in Missouri andin California in Inglewood and in Lennox. He died in 1962. She latermarried Larry Johnson in Inglewood. The couple lived in Bullhead City,Ariz. She moved to Springfield three years ago.

Cupp worked in public relations for the Baptist Children'sHome. She also volunteered for church and community activities.

Her interests included cooking, baking and her dog, Blondie.

Survivors include a son, Larry of Eugene; four grandchildren; andseven great-grandchildren. A grandson, David Cupp, died in 2001.

No service is planned. Burial will be at Inglewood Park Cemetery inInglewood. Major Family Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge ofarrangements.
