The “common wire” is run in series and is connected to all the valves in your system. The “hot wires” are run from each zone at the controller to each valve in your lawn/property. Therefore each zone is operated independently through the controller.

Sprinkler wire consists of one white or common wire and any other colored wire depending on how many control valves the system has. Your sprinkler wire needs to have at least one more wire than the number of zones being installed.

Every irrigation has a common wire that connects all of the solenoids together and in most cases it is a black wire, as this is the colour most commonly used. The common wire is found in the 'c' terminal and is vital to the systems operation.

The most obvious benefit of 2-wire technology is the ability to operate hundreds of sprinklers at the same time anywhere you want on the golf course, limited only by the irrigation systems pumping and piping capacity. Most conventional systems are limited to a maximum of 16 solenoids at the same time per controller.

Flow rates and color codes: 1 GPH (4 L/H) color code – black. 2 GPH (8 L/H) color code – green. 4 GPH (16 L/H) color code – red.

Launch the Rain Bird app and press the Add Controller button. Follow app prompts to set up WiFi connection to Rain Bird controller. Share access to the controller as needed. Program and test controller by turning on watering at the timer and through the Rain Bird app.

Circuit breaker/fuse - Check the condition of the circuit breaker or fuse, if it has been blown the most likely reason is a field wiring short. An Electromechanical controller will stop on the station that caused the problem. Reset the controller to its rest position and replace the fuse or reset the circuit breaker.

Program A, your lawn, needs to be watered once or twice a week in the spring so you would set Program A to run twice a week. Program B, your trees and shrubs, need to be watered only once a week in the spring so on Saturdays, for example, when you know that you have a better chance of checking the system for issues.

If you are unable to connect to the controller, try pulling the WiFi module out of the controller and re-inserting it, allowing it to boot back up again. It should be blinking green when you try to connect in the Rain Bird app.
